2009 ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
FAQ
MAKE A PLEDGE
Frequently Asked Questions
What? This year, for St. Francis, for every dollar that we pledge over the next five months, the diocese will match.
Why? The diocese realizes that parishes need help and support, as well as the larger Archdiocesan ministries. In each Vicariate, three parishes were selected, some who were having difficulty in paying their loan obligations, others, like St. Francis, to show appreciation for their consistency of payment, as well as to provide assistance for the very large mortgage still remaining.
What do I do? Sunday, February 15th was Pledge Sunday. However, we are still accepting pledges for the next several months. Envelopes are available in the narthex, in the parish office or you can complete the form online. Please complete the form and indicate either a one-time gift or a gift paid over a five-month period; whatever works best for you.
Isn’t this an awful time? Yes, it is a very challenging economic time. Every family is affected in some way or another, whether through actual loss of a job, inability to sell a house, or simply worry about the future. However, this is the time that we were given.
What do I give? Each person needs to answer that question in their own heart. As I mentioned last Sunday, I really believe that God blesses generosity. I know these are difficult economic times but I really hope that every family can do something. Look deep into your heart and know the right thing to do.
What if I’m already making a pledge? You may put that pledge payment on hold for the next five months. Let Diane Niehaus know-at the office. Complete the pledge form indicating a 5-month pledge.
Can I pledge on-line? Yes.
