Need Community Service Hours?

Catholic Charities
For many years, St. Francis of Assisi has supported the mission of Daybreak Center. Located in Joliet, this shelter operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year and provides emergency housing and supportive services to individuals and families who are homeless. Kendra Quinn and Roxanne Zoladz coordinate St. Francis resources and volunteers for Daybreak the second Tuesday of every month.

During the summer months, high school teens are encouraged to assist with meal preparation and clean-up. Transportation is provided, and mandatory permission slip is required. No more than four (4) teen volunteers can sign up for any one date. So that sufficient volunteers are scheduled, all interested youth are asked to:
1. As soon as practical, sign up on facebook page: Orland Park St. Francis Youth Group. Available dates: June 8th, July 13th, August 10th and September 17th. Your e-mail address will be passed on to Kendra Quinn. She will contact you and confirm availability and/or answer any questions you might have.
2. Fax your completed permission slip to Debbie Burzinski FIVE (5) days prior to service. Fax no. 708-460-0136. Be sure to bring the ORIGINAL PERMISSION SLIP WITH YOU. Permission slip can be found on parish website, assisiparish.org (generic permission slip)
3. Bring high school community service form with you.

Please direct any questions to Kendra Quinn at kquinn@aligntech.com.

Call the RE Office (708) 460-0155 for Summer Projects.

During the summer months we have projects that teens can help with for Community Service Hours.  These include:

  •  Vacation Bible School leaders
  •  Assembling Parent Handbooks, and other booklets
  •  Helping with books and supplies

In September 2010, we will have several opportunities to earn High School Community Service Hours by helping with Religious Ed sessions:

  • 4:15-6:00 pm  or 7:00-8:30 pm on Tues or Wed;
  • Every other Saturday 8:30-10:00 am;
  • 3 Sundays a month Sept-April during the 9:00 or 10:30 Masses

Be sure to pick up the required Community Service form from your High School Community Service Office.
